Welcome and thank you for joining us on our journey.
In this newsletter we bring you the latest news and updates on whats going on with The Loving Chef and Sol Haven, our base. 

                            
Whilst there is always something going on here at SH, that doesn’t mean that we don’t stop to take a few minutes out to do something for ourselves although sometimes, when you’re so enjoying helping people grow, it can be easy to forget about ourselves.

The same applies to each of us – families, friends, work, household chores – there is always something to distract us from spending time with the most important person in our lives – ourselves.

So this month, make sure you take some time out to focus on YOU !

Natasha the loving Chef has been invited to showcase her wide variety of vegan cooking techniques, skills, and recipes at the newly created food festival taking place within Silverstone’s Classic Festival this August Bank holiday!

This is an incredible opportunity to have live face to face time with Natasha the Loving Chef demonstrating a wide variety of vegan cooking techniques, skills and recipes hopefully inspiring some people to see that vegan cuisine needn’t be expensive or complicated.

August can be a busy time:
  • Keep hoeing & weeding your allotment regularly as warm weather conditions continue through August
  • Water often, avoiding the hottest part of the day to reduce evaporation & leaf scorch. Focus on newly planted crops to help them get established.
  • Tidy your strawberry bed. Replace any plants that are more than three years old with fresh ones & remove dead leaves to improve airflow around them.

Farah is a Sound and Colour Healer and sound acupuncturist, using a range of vibrational sound healing techniques to harmonise and balance the physical and subtle energy bodies. 


Based in South Leicestershire, she trained with Fabian Maman, widely accredited as the father of modern vibrational sound healing.

Her work combines traditional Five Element acupuncture theory with the chakra system and acoustic sound to create the space for deep healing to occur.

WITH  ALCHEMY OF PRESENCE

You are invited to a two-hour Cacao and Nidra experience in a magical yurt, in Northampton

It is an invitation to connect, restore and regenerate your body, mind and soul.

We will open by sharing the wonderful high grade ceremonial cacao cup. Once the medicine of the heart settles in we will indulge in deeper restorative meditation through a Yogic Sleep- Nidra right into our emotional centre and the intelligence of our own hearts.

Yoga Nidra mediation is a highly therapeutic, sacred yogic practice of relaxation in an “awakened sleep” state of consciousness.

We will finish the workshop with a gratitude circle

No experience necessary.

Comfortable clothing

Feel free to bring bolsters, yoga blocks and bricks as needed during the nidra mediation , as you will be lying down.

Our intention is to gather monthly, a community
where we can offer support in growing your own & also look at other issues of sustainability.

 This will be an arena where we can learn from each other, meet & exchange views, & attract speakers to share
their knowledge & wisdom on various subjects to do with
permaculture, sustainability, waste reduction & how to use resources wisely.

A selection of teas & coffee will be provided & we also welcome vegan/vegetarian offerings for a sharing table for the group.

Drawing on the five elements of nature, this unique sound-based meditation will balance & harmonise mind, body, & spirit to leave you uplifted, grounded & revitalised. 

A light vegan meal created by Natasha. the Loving Chef  will be served after the Sound Bath

Welcome and thank you for joining us on our journey.
In this newsletter we bring you the latest news and updates on whats going on with The Loving Chef and Sol Haven, our base. 

                            
This month we would like to give you
a quick tour of our Earth Dome.

The Dome was constructed by hand with the kind, loving help of some of our volunteers & we use it to hold some of our magical events.

If you’d like to find out more about coming to spend time with us & volunteering or if you’d like to hire out the Earth Dome for one of your events, just drop us a message & we will get back to you.
There’s something rather satisfying seeing a large jungle of overgrown Horsetail  being cleared away & here at Sol Haven we in no way undervalue the power of a weed.

Sol Haven welcomes all plants to its space – dandelion, clover, nettle, & of course the dreaded horsetail as they all have a contribution to make.

Horsetail is a deep-rooted fast-growing weed & if you have been struggling with this gritty little plant in your own garden you’ll know what a tricky character it is.

But did you know people have been using horsetail since ancient Greek & Roman times & thanks to its abrasive properties, pioneers in America used it with much success to scrub their pots & pans.

This weed has some awesome therapeutic benefits & is a champion for hair & nails due to its high silica content.

It helps rebuild bones & connective tissue, the fertile shoots(the browny looking ones) can be cooked like asparagus & the vegetative shoots (greeny looking ones) can be used to make a delightful green tea absolutely packed full of nutrients.

Weeds in the garden can be annoying & stubborn, but if we look at them from a different perspective, we can change our belief about them.

Some of those so-called weeds may actually be a nourishing source of sustenance that costs nothing to use.

 
Here at SH, we have a Gratitude Graffiti Wall where we ask our visitors to write something they’re grateful for. 

As you can see, it’s slowly filling up & it warms our hearts with gratitude because it is each & every one of our visitors, clients & volunteers who make it possible for us to do what we do so

Gardening Tips for July
  • Watch your onions carefully & cut out any flower spikes that emerge. This encourages them to focus on putting on size.
  • Plant out the last of your marrow, pumpkins, squashes, overwintering cabbages & leeks.
  • Lift early potatoes & carry on earthing up the rows.
  • Protect heavily-laden fruit tree & bush branches against snapping under the weight.

Welcome and thank you for joining us on our journey.
In this newsletter we bring you the latest news and updates on whats going on with The Loving Chef and Sol Haven, our base. 

                            
This month we would like to give you
a quick tour of our Earth Dome.

The Dome was constructed by hand with the kind, loving help of some of our volunteers & we use it to hold some of our magical events.

If you’d like to find out more about coming to spend time with us & volunteering or if you’d like to hire out the Earth Dome for one of your events, just drop us a message & we will get back to you.
There’s something rather satisfying seeing a large jungle of overgrown Horsetail  being cleared away & here at Sol Haven we in no way undervalue the power of a weed.

Sol Haven welcomes all plants to its space – dandelion, clover, nettle, & of course the dreaded horsetail as they all have a contribution to make.

Horsetail is a deep-rooted fast-growing weed & if you have been struggling with this gritty little plant in your own garden you’ll know what a tricky character it is.

But did you know people have been using horsetail since ancient Greek & Roman times & thanks to its abrasive properties, pioneers in America used it with much success to scrub their pots & pans.

This weed has some awesome therapeutic benefits & is a champion for hair & nails due to its high silica content.

It helps rebuild bones & connective tissue, the fertile shoots(the browny looking ones) can be cooked like asparagus & the vegetative shoots (greeny looking ones) can be used to make a delightful green tea absolutely packed full of nutrients.

Weeds in the garden can be annoying & stubborn, but if we look at them from a different perspective, we can change our belief about them.

Some of those so-called weeds may actually be a nourishing source of sustenance that costs nothing to use.

 
Here at SH, we have a Gratitude Graffiti Wall where we ask our visitors to write something they’re grateful for. 

As you can see, it’s slowly filling up & it warms our hearts with gratitude because it is each & every one of our visitors, clients & volunteers who make it possible for us to do what we do so

Gardening Tips for July
  • Watch your onions carefully & cut out any flower spikes that emerge. This encourages them to focus on putting on size.
  • Plant out the last of your marrow, pumpkins, squashes, overwintering cabbages & leeks.
  • Lift early potatoes & carry on earthing up the rows.
  • Protect heavily-laden fruit tree & bush branches against snapping under the weight.

permaculture, sustainability, waste reduction & how to use resources wisely.

A selection of teas & coffee will be provided & we also welcome vegan/vegetarian offerings for a sharing table for the group.

We were super excited last month to be asked to run a Drum Healing Taster session as part of the HeadFest wellbeing festival promoted by the Royal & Derngate & BBC Northampton,

Numerous research studies have shown that drumming has a profound & positive effect on people with mental health issues, particularly with depression & anxiety.

As well as being beneficial for the immune system & physical health, it can lower stress in various ways, & help energize the mind.

Why not try at home- No drum then how about just using an old plastic bucket & some wooden sticks to hit with!

Here at Sol Haven we offer a monthly Community Drumming circle within our traditional Mongolian yurt or around the fire outside.

No drumming skills are necessary & we have spare drums available thanks to the Northamptonshire Community Foundation.

Make some noise, have some fun & see the amazing effects drumming has on you.
 

We are pride to be sharing the work that has been going on with the forest garden recently.

Funded by National Lottery, Together for the Plant – action for climate change campaign. 

We are looking forward to sharing with you later in the year the progress we are making but for now here are the
first steps!! 
World Rainforest Day
22nd June
 
World Rainforest Day was created in 2017 by Rainforest Partnership, a non-governmental organization based in Austin, Texas, to raise awareness & encourage action to protect the world’s rainforests.
 
Did you know, it is estimated that up to 78 million hectares of rainforest are destroyed each year.



Not only do rainforests hold invaluable genetic resources & countless evolutionary marvels, but they are also thought of as “living pharmacies”.

Their great & unknown diversity is a resource for new medicines & therapies plus also the source of many products we use in our daily lives, like coffee, cacao, spices, common fruits & vegetables.



 Products like palm oil found in shampoos & many common hygiene & food products are directly related to rainforest deforestation throughout the world.
 


The rainforests are keeping our planet alive.
They are home to half the world’s animal species.
The Amazon rainforests alone provide 20% of the oxygen we breathe & the pure water we drink, emphasising their significance to life on Earth.

  • Keep an eye on your onion & garlic. When the leaves start to yellow & die back, they’re ready to harvest.
  • Pinch out the side shoots of tomatoes to concentrate energy into fruit formation

PERMACULTURE & SUSTAINABILITY GATHERING 
 
Our intention is to gather monthly, a community
where we can offer support in growing your own & also look at other issues of sustainability.

 This will be an arena where we can learn from each other, meet & exchange views, & attract speakers to share
their knowledge & wisdom on various subjects to do with
permaculture, sustainability, waste reduction & how to use resources wisely.

A selection of teas & coffee will be provided & we also welcome vegan/vegetarian offerings for a sharing table for the group.

These sessions explore more of the esoteric work that we explore and deep dive into the breath-work and drum meditations using shamanic principles in order to understand the subconscious and higher-self realms
